Tick-tock
Tick-tock
Ticks the ticker
On the clock.
Time is passing
Light is fading
Evening draws us
Sky is paling.
Breath has stained
Fog remains
On the bitter-cold,
Frosted window panes.
Peering out beneath the eaves
December's snow
Winter's freeze
Have taken over;
Gone are Fall's leaves.
With snowflakes a fallin'
Black crows a callin'
A stillness, a sigh
See now what has befallen.
Away from the glass
White world of wonder,
Sit back before the hearth
Where fire burns under.
The flame they hold
Thoughts have wandered
Beyond the cold.
Glass set outside
Now an ice mirror
Au revoir, tender Autumn -
Winter is here.
