Welcome! We are a Christian family who cares for elderly individuals in our home. There are so many quotes, stories, and photos that we wanted to share with our precious "Golden Girls'" families, which they could view quicker and could be updated easier on this blog than we would ever have time (and memory!) to share with them personally. We also thought others might enjoy reading and viewing along with the families on this great adventure of their loved ones' golden sunset years. So sit back, relax, and enjoy your visit with us and "The Grandmas"!

Please join me in welcoming...

Grandma Lorry!
Lorraine, who goes by Lorry, has been a beautiful addition to our home!  As of April 24th, we have been blessed with yet another loving soul to care for.  The ladies all enjoy one another; Lorry & Junebug share many-a-moment together, pouring over their word search puzzles.

"Good-morning, Grandma Lorry! Rise 'n shine!"

Our cuddle-bugs :)

Brown eyes or blue eyes?  That is the question...

Praising the Lord for His goodness and love!  What a precious delight He has brought to our home.

April...

...in random order...

Hello, folks!  Sorry for this random, out-of-order post...thought you'd enjoy some quickie photos; an update, if you will. :)  We are all well, prospering in the Lord's goodness and faithfulness.  Ruth has been such a *lovely* addition to our home...my, she has so much character!  And June is continuing to blossom with each new day, adding her own special touch to our lives.
Our dashing man (aka Dad) is working like a mad man now that business has picked up in its full force.  Although we covet his presence here with each looonnnnggggg day that passes without him, we are ever more grateful for the Lord's provision and keep in mind the days when work was on snail speed and we were asking him why he was here so much!!  Poor guy, not only is he WAY outnumbered here by the male/female ratio (1/6!) but his face doesn't appear on this blog nearly as much as it ought...never fear, I shall get straight to work on that.
Our busy mamacita (aka Mom) has been running the home smoothly and keeping her girlies in order. :)  We are so thankful for her giftings in compassion and caregiving...Vanessa & I have been gleaning so much from her and our grandmas have been prospering abundantly in her loving care.
Us girlies (aka...well, you know who we are!) have been keeping out of trouble...okay, well hopefully more than just that. :)  Vanessa's been extremely diligent in her schooling, wrapping the year up and all, I'm still cookin' away and *trying* to keep everyone else in order...lol, and Johanna has been looking like a wild jungle baby or something...she's been insisting on doing her own hair of late, for don't you know? ...she's "big now". :)
Ah well, time to get going with the day!

Thoughtful Thursday

“Resolve to be tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving, and tolerant with the weak and the wrong. Sometime in your life you will have been all of these.” (Dr. Robert H. Goddard)

Is not wisdom found among the aged? Does not long life bring understanding? (Job 12:12)

'You shall rise up before the gray-headed and honor the aged, and you shall revere your God; I am the LORD.' (Leviticus 19:32)

Many blessings to you all on this lovely spring day!

An Evening in Africa...

So, a few days ago I tried my hand at African cooking...that is, Ethiopian cuisine!  It was fun, but a lot of work and a lot of leftovers (I think I made enough to feed an army)!  Below are some photos for your enjoyment...everyone was so sweet to try it out and nod and smile that it was "good"...ha!  I think I'll just stick to good ol' spaghetti or fried chicken!

Abish, the main dish...yes, it rhymes, how poetic :)

Yatakleet Kilkil...interesting name for a mixture of veggies and spices

Dabo Kolo...actually means "popcorn bread"

I also made Injera (flat bread) which was real cool, however didn't get any shots of them, so if you really want to know what it looks like, try googling it! :)

Quite the trooper!

Our Ruth will actually eat anything...so of course she announced how wonderful it was :)

Grandma Jan stopped by for a visit...thanks for coming!

My sweet sister, Vanessa digging in

"Thank you, Grandma, for the cool new shades, headband, and calculator!"

That's all from the Kitchen!  Hope you enjoyed our "dining experience"!

A sweet trio

Daughter and Mother

Three Generations: Linda, June, & Kristin...too bad Hannah or Katie wasn't here, that would've made Four Generations!

Wow!  Maybe we should have turned the numbers around!

"Do I have to blow ALL of the candles out in ONE blow?"
"No, but the important thing is that you don't spit on the cake or blow your dentures into it!"

"Oh, boy...I've quite the job ahead of me."

"I think I'm up for the task, though."

"Confidence...yes, confidence is the key...and lots of smiles."

Well, here goes! (BTW...spit and teeth stayed where they belonged!) :)

Tea-Time with Tommy

Uh...coffee, actually...

Pinkie up!

Stepping outside for a breather...

"Yes, yes!  I'm ready!"

Cracker Jacks!  Johanna's first experience...thank you Tommy!

Junebug received floods of wonderful birthday calls.  Thank you, Bob & Gloria, Al & Joy, and Harry & Gloria!

Spellbound...alright, now I'm supposed to be the photographer here...who snapped this?? :)

"So long, Tommy.  Thanks for coming to celebrate with me!"

Some gift opening!  What lovely paper, Linda!

Ah, and such a comforting gift!

Explaining how fabulous it is to sleep on...

...and how it remembers the form of your head as you sleep!

Observing the kiddos

Paige and June, Granddaughter-in-love (Geoff's wife) & Grandmother

"Look out!  Ready or not ('Not!') ...here we come!"

Now, everyone scream as you fly down 2 whole miles per hour into the rickety fence!

"Whew!  It wasn't so bad after all."

The struggles kids go through for the 10 second amount of enjoyment at the end

Our three stooges: Lindsay (June's Great-Granddaughter), Johanna, and Taylor (Great-Grandson)

"Good-bye"....Wait a minute!  She's not going anywhere! :)

Tuckered-out, our pink petunias have had a lovely day.

Thank you, Robbie & Yvette for the gorgeous roses!

Well, that's about it, folks!  Thank you to all who made this day extra special for June.  At supper that night, she told us that "this was the best birthday I've ever had"...Praying blessings on this new year for you, our Sunshine Girl!
