Welcome! We are a Christian family who cares for elderly individuals in our home. There are so many quotes, stories, and photos that we wanted to share with our precious "Golden Girls'" families, which they could view quicker and could be updated easier on this blog than we would ever have time (and memory!) to share with them personally. We also thought others might enjoy reading and viewing along with the families on this great adventure of their loved ones' golden sunset years. So sit back, relax, and enjoy your visit with us and "The Grandmas"!

Of Spring & Sniffles & Smiles

The wonderful season of Spring, with it's new life, fresh scents, songbirds and blue skies is here and we've been reveling in the beauty of God's creation. Winter doesn't last long here, just long enough for us to enjoy a few snow flurries and iced-in days and thank the good Lord we're not living up north anymore! ;) Warmer weather also means the Grandmas can get out and about, on long walks in the neighborhood, shopping trips and day-trips to the zoo and arboretum. Below are random memories we've made this April and early May.

Here are the finished p.j. pants Johanna made which was documented in this post

Silly times with Grandma Margarete

These moments are always so precious

Lorry loves her new baby doll from her niece and nephew, Kathy and Dave

And yes, with the wonderful season of Spring came the not-so-pleasant allergy Sniffles! Thankfully we were well prepared

The lovely sunset and farm behind our home

Mom and Lorry went clothes shopping with the gift card Lorry got from her son and family for Christmas

Cool as a cucumber :)

Decisions, decisions

"I think they missed a spot. Feeling a bit like Alfalfa."

The M.s graciously invited our family over for dinner...even while wielding a knife Mr. Vic looks sweet :)

I will pretend this is not my plate of Mrs. Linda's amazing coconut cream pie...I'm sure it was Dad's ;)

The lovely H. family had two extra tickets to a symphony orchestra that a friend from their church played in and Vanessa and I were happy to join them!

Vanessa and Johanna took a trip to the aquarium to celebrate completing her first Apologia Science book!

Lovely sealife

We tried to discover what type of sea animal this one was...must be a new species ;)

Fun Spring walks

At the end of April/beginning of May a friend from church had a weeklong time-share that he wasn't able to use and we were blessed with such a relaxing and refreshing get-away! Dad and Mom went for the first four days and us girls went for the last three and a half. The above collage is the front of a thank you we made for Mr. C. We have a TON more photos, but thought it would be too much to blog ;).

Well, that pretty-much sums up April! There is a lot more going on in life right now...a new Grandma moving in, exciting opportunities coming up for this summer and great changes for the future. But for now we're just taking it one day at a time, following where God leads. We hope to share more as we learn more!

Resurrection Day, 2014

Our celebration of Jesus' resurrection this year was a lot smaller than usual but we still had a fun and blessed time with the wonderful T. family. Praise the Lord for His ultimate sacrifice on the cross and ascension to Heaven so that all the world has the opportunity to be sons and daughters of Him!

Johanna and Grandma Lorry looking bright and cheery in their colorful outfits

Piano melodies floating through the house

Haha! Grandma Margarete is not a huge fan of getting her picture taken, but she sure does have a way of bringing joy!

Sweet smile

An intense and thought-provoking discussion (probably not, it just looks that way ;)

The yummilicious blueberry-banana pies made by Mrs. Patty!

This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you,
that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all.
If we say that we have fellowshp with Him and yet walk in the darkness,
we lie and do not practice the truth; but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light,
we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.
