Welcome! We are a Christian family who cares for elderly individuals in our home. There are so many quotes, stories, and photos that we wanted to share with our precious "Golden Girls'" families, which they could view quicker and could be updated easier on this blog than we would ever have time (and memory!) to share with them personally. We also thought others might enjoy reading and viewing along with the families on this great adventure of their loved ones' golden sunset years. So sit back, relax, and enjoy your visit with us and "The Grandmas"!

December Days {part i}

When the last month of the year arrives our home turns into a revolving bakery...we throw out all healthy resolutions and completely immerse ourselves in the joy of all things sugary!

It's always fun having Dad join us girls in the kitchen...Johanna and him were in charge of "his" sugar cookies

Bunny face :)

Dad gets a little excited when he has a machine in his hands...especially when that machine is a beater!

Vanessa chose to make peanut butter fudge

They're dangerous with that beater, folks

Finishing the night by the fire

It's game-time! UNO and...

...Scrabble

That evening we began the next phase of the cookie-making process...cutting them out and baking!

Mom and Vanessa's version of teamwork: "That's enough flour" "Are you sure? Let's add more." ;)

The action

Curly-Q

Saw that, Vanessa!

Oh yes we did

Curly together

Dad and Johanna always come up with the most ingenious ideas...

Johanna: "I'll hold the pin down and you roll me back and forth" :D

The flour muffin

From Bella's perspective, December is the best month of the year

Mama dear and the Bean...

...with a white beard

Mom's cookies, baked

Dad's cookies, baked (these cookie wars will never end)

Frosting time!

Two tired and happy frosting sisters

Dessert plates for the many wonderful caregivers that come into our home

Completed!

Our lovely dishwasher (reminds me of the song, "Irish Washerwoman") :)

After our bakery closed shop for the evening, Johanna put a Nativity skit on with her baby...

...and Bella got in on the action as the little black sheep that I'm sure was present ;)

part ii coming soon...
