Dad celebrated his birthday July 29th and has officially gone over the hill! I warn you before scrolling down that this post is definitely a drool-producing one...food was on the top of his birthday wishes and food he got!
Good morning, sugar-style!
Breakfast in bed
I don't know if I've ever revealed here the reason that Mom is the official bed-maker,
well, here you have it -- Dad and Johanna's fancy bed-making skills!
Cake prep!
For triple the cake you need triple the pan.
The Frosting!
Look who came for a visit!
Mr. Vic and Mrs. Linda brought a very sweet birthday gift for Dad...
Chopped pecans...
Whipped cream...
Marciano cherries...
Homemade fudge!...
And it all makes for an ice cream party!
Lots of laughter
Amusing conversations
Then, it was time to get dinner going...
Corn on the cob...
...and lasagna, anyone (Salad Master-style!)?
The table was set and ready...
...the first course was served...
...Grandma Lorry was there...
...Grandma June was there, too...
...Johanna was definitely ready...
...and the birthday boy...
...was ready to dig in!
Dinner is served!
Then, more prep as we pulled the homemade frosting out and began the stacking process...
1st Layer...
2nd Layer...
3rd Layer...
4th Layer...
5th Layer...
AND the 6th Layer!
Spreading the frosting
Oh dear! The Cake Monsters have arrived!
"Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you...
"Happy Birthday dear Dad...
"Happy Birthday to you!"
The Leaning Tower of Pisa (drenched in coconut frosting :)
The great cutting and serving
Diggin' in!
Delish!
Happy Birthday, Dad!
Thank you for being the faithful, caring, visionary leader of our family.
We love you!
