Thanksgiving, 2013

Shout joyfully to the Lord, all the earth.

Serve the Lord with gladness;

Come before Him with joyful singing.

Know that the Lord Himself is God;

It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves;

We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.

Enter His gates with thanksgiving

And His courts with praise.

Give thanks to Him, bless His name.

For the Lord is good;

His lovingkindness is everlasting

And His faithfulness to all generations.

What a lovely day of feasting and fellowship we had Thanksgiving Day! 

Mr. O. and his son, Ben, blessed us with a fried turkey...a first for us!

I was concerned that the rolls would fall off the dryer as they were rising, so I put bookends on either side. But then I figured the bookends would fall off too, so tied them together...my contraption worked! ;D

So many good things to eat!

Dad only had a few bites of his dinner before something got caught in his throat. Initially he thought it was a turkey bone, so we tried different things to get it down (apple cider vinegar, butter, water, hot coffee) and even called the E.R. to see what we should do. Before we were about to take him in to the hospital, Mom had him try jello which helped him get it unstuck and we found out that it wasn't a turkey bone at all! We sprinkled those pretty little metal confetti leaves around the table (you can see them close up in the first picture above) and apparently one of them landed on his plate and he swallowed it without realizing it! Praise the Lord it wasn't more seriously stuck!

It is such a blessing to be such good friends with our Grandmas' families! We love them all so dearly!

Later that evening us girls went to a campground/homestead fair with a family from church and switched with Dad & Mom over the weekend. That post is next!
