Well folks, the fateful day has come and gone, a new year has been conquered and completed. Dad has officially reached the big 50! As has been made the birthday tradition for him, a six layer German Sweet Chocolate Cake was whipped up, stacked and doused with frosting. Oh, and of course we dutifully ate our share of the creation, no worries there! Happy birthday, Daddy-O! We are so very pleased to have celebrated with you in the accomplishment of Half a Century Ol-- er, Young!
A lovely difference from last year's creation, wouldn't you agree?
The Great and Gooey Layering!
Oh dear, probably had a visual of
coconut frosting piled all over each other
One more layer to go!
Ah-ha! The birthday boy himself!
Reenacting blowing the candles out for the camera
which missed the original
The cutting technique: one layer at a time, while a spatula gingerly holds the leaning tower of Pisa
"Let's just say this quarter of the cake lands on the counter -- an accident, of course -- does that mean it belongs to me??"
Yummilicious loveliness
Mike the Man
There once lived a man named Mike.
Who read with a sweet little tyke.
He worked and he sweat
Was grill master and chef
Worked with wood -- drill and hammer did strike
Ha! Ha! Gotta love those limericks!
You will keep in perfect peace
him whose mind is steadfast,
because he trusts in You.
