Welcome! We are a Christian family who cares for elderly individuals in our home. There are so many quotes, stories, and photos that we wanted to share with our precious "Golden Girls'" families, which they could view quicker and could be updated easier on this blog than we would ever have time (and memory!) to share with them personally. We also thought others might enjoy reading and viewing along with the families on this great adventure of their loved ones' golden sunset years. So sit back, relax, and enjoy your visit with us and "The Grandmas"!

Cabin Getaway, 2012 - Day 4

Our last day at the cabin and we woke to a beautiful misty morning.

The sun was shining before we knew it and it was time to fish!

Turn off music in sidebar and watch a clip Vanessa took with her phone:

Mom was able to catch a fish with a dead minnow!

Rockin' away (in a chair that is)

They had these cute tree stumps carved into chairs,
Johanna loved casting...

...and was really good at catching vegetation

Dad filleting the fish we caught for lunch

Beware: This is what a can full of sugar does to little five year olds

Our last meal on the porch

Grandma "D" enjoying the 20 inch bass she caught

Junebug loved fishing!

Before heading out we had to have our little tea party (with the tea cups Johanna bought Mom for Mother's Day).

Pinkies up!

All of us!
(For some reason there's this little tree planted right in front of the porch steps)

Well folks, that's it for our Cabin Getaway, 2012!
Hope you enjoyed!

Cabin Getaway, 2012 - Day 3

Day 3 of our cabin getaway was just as beautiful and carefree as the rest (minus the 15 minute downpour on Day 1). Outdoor eating, lazy fishing, and beautiful scenery!

We are all coffee drinkers around here,
can't quite start the day out right without a good hot mug of one.

Yummy...waffles and smoky links for breakfast!

Our cozy cabin

If you look at last year's getaway there's a pic of Dad and Mom in front of a massive red dirt crater; well, here's the finished product!

A quiet fishing spot...

...far away from these two crazy amateurs :P

Practicing their royal greetings

Attempting to impale...

...one of these : (

Another lovely catch!

Quiet moments

Just enjoying the afternoon with one another

Dad caught some sea weed (pond weed?)

And we finished the day with another cozy dinner on the back porch.
Day 4 coming next!

Cabin Getaway, 2012 - Day 2

Pictures from Day 2 are few and far between, we were much too busy having a blast to smile for the camera. However, the ones we did catch are with our phones, so the quality isn't all that grand.

A morning cup o' Joe on the back porch

She caught a spiky one!

Lazy afternoon on the back porch by the pot belly stove

At this cabin, there's a closed-in bedroom outside! It's nice and screened in to protect from bugs, but you still get to hear the rustling leaves and crows cawing away in the day and the crazy storm and hooting owls at night. Wonderful!

The Sister Act

Dinner is over with and dessert is in the process

Yes, wonderful dessert

Our lovely day came to an end and Day 3 will be coming soon!
